Traeger Pro Series 780 Pellet Grill Review

Traeger pro series 780 review

Using a regular smoker is time-consuming and not easy to do. The experience of constantly babysitting wood chips and checking, scanning, and poking food every 15 minutes. Why spend the entire day smoking meat while the Traeger pro series 780 pellet grill allows you to set and forget until it’s mealtime?

Most foods taste better smoked. The Traeger pro series 780 review shows it might be one of the best options to get that smoky flavor.

Stay tuned to find out!

These are just a few of the pellet grill recipe categories I will write about. Many people think that grilling or smoking is not good for you. For that reason, I will also add some healthy pellet grill recipes and show that using wood pellets to cook food can be healthy.

There are people who search for recipes for their specific bran pellet grill and some of the ones I see are for Pit Boss and Traeger pellet grill recipes. However, all the recipes I have here can be cooked on about all brands.

If you have not decided yet if this type of cooking is for you, you can look at the pellet grill reviews I did to find all the pellet grill features.

Traeger Pro Series 780 Features

In this post, I take a good look at the Traeger pro series pellet grills features and benefits. After reading this Traeger pro series 780 review, you will understand why it can be one of the better pellet grills to choose for your family.

All the features are the same for the Pro 575 series. The difference in both is the grill area. 575 versus 780 square inches.

Cooking Area

When purchasing a grill, the cooking area is the first factor to bear in mind.

Ideally, crowding food in your grill leads to less taste and more cooking problems. The Traeger pro series 780 pellet grill features a whooping 780 square inches of cook space. The cooking area can take up to 6 rib racks, 6 chickens, and 34 burgers, all in one grilling.

Grill grates

Having the right type of grill grates can make cleaning easier and prevent the meat from sticking. The Porcelain-coated grill grates are in my opinion the best options and the Pro Series 780 is equipped with them.

Hopper Capacity

Pellet hopper size determines how long the grill will run before you need to refill fuel. Therefore, the larger the hopper capacity, the longer the pellet grill can cook. Not a deal-breaker but a plus if you like to cook long sessions overnight. The Traeger pro series 780 pellet grill features an 18-pound capacity. The larger hopper capacity gives you enough capacity for hours of grilling!

Hopper Cleanout

The Traeger pro series 780 hopper cleanout features a trapdoor for emptying the hopper quickly. The grill features stainless, which is essential for faster and more efficient cleaning. Its design allows you to remove ash easily, while the cooking area is easy to access and clean.

Rugged All-Terrain wheels

The Traeger pro series 780 pellet grill weighs about 150 pounds, which you may consider not lightweight. However, the pellet grill sits on all-terrain locking wheels for ease of moving from one location to another.

I found a video about the Traeger Pro series that explains many of the things I will talk about below. This is maybe easier than reading?

Grill Controls

Traeger pros 780 wifi controller on cell phone

These Traeger pellet grills feature the WiFIRE Technology. Therefore, you can monitor and control your grill from anywhere via the Traeger App. In addition, the grill features a powerful D2 controller that maintains precise temperatures to ensure perfect results.

Meat probes

The pellet grill comes with dual probe meat thermometers. Therefore, you can grill different meat cuts to different temperatures. The meat probes ensure food is cooked to proper internal temperatures to avoid food over or undercooking. The meat probe lets you monitor food temperature without the need to lift the lid which might cause temperature fluctuations.

However, sometimes you may want to add food, so lifting the lid is inevitable. The Traeger pro series 780 pellet grill comes with turbo temp. The TurboTemp® improves startup and helps the grill temperature recover quickly after lifting the lid.

Convenience And Ease Of Use

One of the favorite things you will find on the Traeger Pro Series 780 Pellet Grill is the construction, which translates to ease of use.

Firstly, Traeger does a perfect job of explaining the steps for assembling the pellet grill. The manual comes with pictures to help and guide you through the assembly process.

Safety Features

The low-temperature alarm is the first security feature we found during our Traeger Pro series 780 pellet grill review. The alarm goes off when the temperature comes below 125 degrees. If the temperature is below 125 for over ten minutes, the function will switch off all the components and will go in shut-down mode.

Besides the low-temperature alarm, the Traeger Pro Series 780 pellet grill comes with a high-temperature sensor. When the temperature reading is past 550 degrees this warning will show up. You need to shut the grill down and let it cook-off.

Another essential security feature has to do with the design. The pellet comes with stable constructed legs and does not overturn easily.
